Taste Asia - Thailand

Chef Chompol, awarded with 2-Michelin stars in 2019

At the start of 2020, Fenix Film was tasked with filming and directing four episodes of Taste Asia, modeled after the successful format of our Taste of France series. These episodes feature some of Thailand's most celebrated chefs, who share the personal journeys behind their culinary achievements. Renowned for their skillful blend of colors, flavors, and textures, these culinary masters have played a pivotal role in elevating Thai cuisine to global prominence.

Throughout the series, we delve into the evolution of Thai cuisine from its street food origins to its current status as a refined, fine-dining experience. This modern, innovative approach to cooking is deeply rooted in the traditional flavors and culture of Thailand. Our episodes provide an intimate look at how these chefs meticulously choose their ingredients, emphasizing local produce and sustainable practices.

Each episode wraps up with a brief tutorial, teaching viewers how to prepare a premium Thai dish themselves, bringing a taste of Thailand's finest culinary experiences into homes around the world.

The Restauration of Maria Magdalena Church

In 2015, we commenced the production of a documentary capturing one of Sweden's most significant church renovations. It presents a vivid depiction of the entire renovation journey through the eyes of three pivotal figures: a retired priest known for his perfectionism and profound understanding of our history and cultural heritage, a young female coordinator burdened with immense responsibilities, and the head of the construction company.

The film was aired on the Swedish Television channel Axess in 2018.

SHRIC - Supporting Human Rights In China

The Pastiche - our version

The Original Commercial

In 2014, Fenix Film was approached by the non-profit organization SHRIC - Supporting Human Rights in China, with a request to produce a two-minute web presentation. The goal was to shed light on the persecution faced by various groups and minority figures in China. Instead of opting for traditional interviews and storytelling methods, we committed to enhancing the visibility and impact of their critical message.

We decided to create a pastiche of the acclaimed Volvo commercial featuring Zlatan, as a creative means to draw attention. In collaboration with SHRIC, we carefully selected actors for the spoof to ensure an authentic representation. Notably, the scene depicting a Falun Gong practitioner's persecution and torture was based on the true experiences of the actor, who had survived such ordeals at the hands of Chinese prison guards. Similarly, the actor portraying a Tibetan was chosen for his real-life experience of persecution in Tibet, which led him to a perilous escape through the mountains.

Fenix Film has undertaken several trips to China to produce content for our clients, which has heightened our awareness of the severe human rights violations occurring in the country. Our research for the Volvo-Zlatan parody led us to numerous accounts from prisoners of conscience who had been unjustly incarcerated.

Among these, we discovered pieces of a diary from 1999 that inspired our short film, "Red Lotus: Forbidden Diary." This film delves into the life of a young woman who finds herself wrongfully imprisoned in China. Stripped of her fundamental rights overnight, she faces immense pressure to renounce her beliefs in hopes of reuniting with her family.
